Tomorrow is March baby and we’re on freeway to springtime! Hallelujah!
According to the pictures on my phone, last year on March 3, we had a weird 70º weekend. There was no snow. My family was outside in short sleeves playing baseball and we had a bonfire. Unless there’s a miracle this weekend, that’s not in the cards for this year, but I’m optimistic because that’s what March is. Weird. There will be piles of snow for sure, but there’s also bound to be some surprise warm days. Maybe a sun sighting? IDK, but I do know that March is the weird goth girl who wears black lipstick but also sings soprano in the church choir. There will be surprises!
Anyway, I’m about to become a TV newsletter writer because boy have I been consuming. I’m always late to the game though. I have kids who won’t sleep, a husband who prefers YouTube, and basically my time watching grown up television is limited, so I’m usually two years behind the hype. But maybe that means nothing I say could be a spoiler! Perks, glimmers, silver linings.
I finally finished the first episode of White Lotus Thailand and overall, I was freaked out by Saxon and utterly impressed with the relentless positivity of the English girl with the old boyfriend. Yes! Let’s get pissed! But then, right at the end, and I’m thinking this is a fairly standard first episode, I nearly spit out an entire mouthful of wine. Greg, you slinky motherfucker. What are you doing here?
I was literal years late to the the previous two seasons of White Lotus and was able to crush them in a matter of days. Watching in real time and having to wait for the next episode is going to be a real lesson in delayed gratification over here.
So then I started watching Succession. It’s one of those shows that if you have social media, you’re just sort of aware of. Well, I had a rare evening to myself and I decided to give it an episode. Friends, I gave it four more episodes that night. I’m about to give it the rest of my week. What. A. Banger.
What are you guys watching lately?

Reading
I’m passionate about reading and sharing books that are readily available at your library and don’t feature a waitlist 47 people long. So these are rarely new, hot releases, but if you’re intrigued, there’s a good chance for instant gratification at your library.
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks // Okay, stay with me here. This came out when I was in high school and maybe I read it then? I honestly can’t remember, but I definitely watched the movie two weekends ago (see? I’m a TV newsletter now!) and wept like a freaking baby. Then, while perusing the local used bookstore, I found it for like, fifty cents, and now here I am. I’m an emotional B, so the crying continues.
I will say, there’s a lot of “you never forget your first love” conversations and I’m here to refute that. I barely remember who I dated in high school. You can be damn sure I wasn’t blowing up any engagements to a rich man to go see what they’re up to 14 years later. Maybe I’ve just never had that kind of love? Maybe it doesn’t exist?
Please tell me you’ve read this masterpiece.
Shopping
You know how we all start fantasizing about sweaters and also buying them in August when it’s 80º? I’m doing that in reverse. Flip flops, swimsuits and fancy SPF are all dropping in my cart this week. It’s called manifesting.
Vacation Brand SPF // I’m a ho for good marketing and does anyone make SPF look sexier than the Vacation brand people? My Target recently started stocking them IN STORE. Perfect for my impulsive personality.
J Crew Factory is always on sale so if you buy something full price, you’re wrong. I stocked up on the tan, black, and tortoise flippy-flops last weekend during a 40% off run. I know that sounds excessive, but I literally wear these until they’re ground into the floor. I’m taking pictures later this summer for proof. I’m such a die-hard for these classics.
Cherries are having a moment, aren’t they?
I just ordered this watch. I’ve worn a Fitbit forever, and I’m just over the bulkiness. I want a nice chic watch that tells me nothing but the time. Will report back!
In homewares, I’m looking to swap out or just plain put up some art in my house. Going on 9 years here and not much on the walls. Anyway, I stumbled on this Etsy printable shop and I’m just putting hearts on everything, it seems.
A truly unsexy purchase that is lighting up my life is this ceramic coating spray. Maybe three months ago I replaced my fridge with a stainless steel one and now I’m going crazy constantly wiping off the smudges and fingerprints. This protectant makes it less smudgy, and makes wiping them off much easier. Boring buy, but it really works.

Okay, I might give the new Baldwins show a watch based on this reaction list alone.
If you haven’t watched Scamanda (Hulu), I highly recommend it. A woman fakes having cancer, makes a ton of $$$, and then the IRS gets involved.

Last night, I watched the SNL 50 episode and my God, it was great. Speaking of, what a good week for television. White Lotus out with a new season the very same weekend? AND on a long weekend for some of you folks! I don’t get President’s day off, but I know a lot of people do, and what a banger way to spend it. I did end up working from home unexpected…

Weekend Musings // I was in a bit of a slump, you could say.
And if you enjoyed today’s newsletter, would you consider subscribing? I aim for one newsletter a week, and usually on Friday, so if I may be so bold, it’s a lovely treat for you inbox, just before the weekend.
I was also late to the Succession party. Fantastic viewing. 👌🏻 Also, I cannot stand idly by and allow you to call Walton Goggins an “old guy.” This man is a treasure. 😁
Agree, agree, agree with everything you said re: White Lotus. I am loving one episode per week, gagged by icky Greg's return, fascinated and repulsed by the most of the other characters. What a fun ride.
