Rough week, eh? I looked at my 401k account on Monday and gasped aloud at my desk. Then I decided to not log in again for a while because the only thing more depressing than losing thousands of dollars in a week is remembering that I have 30 years to let it bounce back before I can retire anyway. Lolol sigh.
Anyway! Have you heard that Sephora is having a sale?
Seriously though, the way all of my social media is consumed with the Sephora sale, and the way my husband is equally addicted to his phone and has never even heard of Sephora, really got me thinking about what we’re served. We really do sort of live in our own little bubbles, you know? Based on my FYP and feeds, I think the entire world is talking about just a handful of things, but then I talk to real people and they have a completely different set of things being served to them. I’m curious - what does your FYP (for you page) look like?
Here’s mine:
Substack: Early 2000’s style collages (love!) and also older millennials complaining about new technology. AI, reels on substack, how loud leaf blowers are, etc. We really are turning into our parents folks!
Instagram: protein coffee, beef tallow as skincare, quotes about romanticizing life and sooo many ninja creami videos.
Pinterest: stripes and anchovy charm necklaces. Not mad about that. Oh and increasingly, lobster and tomato content.
I’m not always sure what I’m putting into the world to be served these things, but here we are! What’s on your feeds?
But first, some housekeeping: there’s some affiliate links in here. But aren't they everywhere? Anyway, if you click on something and buy it, I might earn a commission at no cost to you.

Reading
I’m passionate about reading and sharing books that are readily available at your library and don’t feature a waitlist 47 people long. So these are rarely new, hot releases, but if you’re intrigued, there’s a good chance for instant gratification at your library.
The Crown in Vogue // The heft of a coffee table book, but the content of a regular book. I’m in heaven and absolutely devouring this photo heavy history of the British royal family from the pages of Vogue. Starting roughly around 1910 with King George V (Elizabeth’s grandpa), and I have just made it to Princess Margaret’s wedding to Tony. Beautiful photography, fun historical commentary, and a nice history lesson in general.
This book of good news is on my immediate TBR list.
Shopping
To be clear, I am not recommending this purchase, but the guffaw that I guffawed when I saw this. I need to understand the cost justification. Is this trolling rich people?
An absolute rollercoaster drop back into my own price range: I’ve been wearing these press on nails this week in I Like it Spicy. I’ve raved about this brand before: excellent staying power and you can’t beat a $10 manicure. I stick to the extra extra short options because they’re still soooo long IMO.
A cute swimsuit because it’s almost summer! Plus the $10 slides I’ll wear with it (and everywhere).
Old Navy dresses have been on sale this week. I really like this ruffle mini + this ruffle maxi.
Time to re-up on this daily driver that is not from Sephora, but is an excellent drugstore find.

Recently Enjoyed Things | April 4, 2025
I read this week that April is everything January wished it could be and good lord, isn’t that the truth! Spring is the true restart of the year and I am feeling it! Not that I have any control here - if I did, I’d get rid of the whole daylight savings thing in a MF heartbeat - but if we could readjust our New Years celebrations, bumping them out to Apr…
